MONASTERY OF NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA MURTA

Alzira, Valencia

Monastery of Nuestra Señora de la Murta

A 14th century ensemble, which includes a large pool of clear water, the ruins of an oil mill, a hermitage, lime kilns and a more recently constructed stately home with a romantic garden. As is often the case with religious buildings, the ensemble focuses on the church and everything is built around a central cloister. A couple of highlights are the dovecote (“Torre de los Palomos”) and the Renaissance portal.
